The BVA Varsity Baseball Team defeated the Mars Fightin' Planets on Wednesday, May 18th by a score of 7 - 1 at Pullman Park in Butler.

Highlights of the game from the Post Gazette:

• Belle Vernon 7, Mars 1: Matt Callaway pitched a complete-game four-hitter as the Leopards (17-4) beat the Planets (15-5) at Pullman Park. Joe Simsic went 3 for 3 with three RBIs for the Leopards.

They will now play the Hopewell Vikings in the Semi-Finals on Monday, May 21st at Ross Memorial Park, home field of W & J College in Washington, PA. Game time is 5:00PM. For directions, click this link.

A victory against Hopewell will secure a spot in the WPIAL AAA Finals and also secure a spot in the PIAA State Baseball Playoffs. The WPIAL Finals will be played 5/29 or 5/30 at Consol Energy Park in Washington, home of the Washington Wild Things.

They deserve all of our support. Please come to W & J on Monday. Go LEPS!

Hopewell has a record of 18 - 3. They are ranked #3 in the WPIAL AAA Playoff Seedings. They finished in second place in the WPIAL AAA Section 1 standings. They have a regular season record of 17 - 3 and a section record of 11 - 3.
