The Rostraver Pony Team wins their first round playoff game.

The Rostraver Pony TeamĀ built a five-run lead in the fourth inning and then held off Washington Township (Bamford)'s charge for a 9-8 victory in the continuation of a rain delayed game on Wednesday. Washington Township (Bamford) scored five runs in the failed comeback on a single in the fifth, a stolen base in the fifth, a in the fifth, a single by Andrew Mackey in the sixth, and a groundout by Matthew Bamford in the seventh.
An early lead helped propel Rostraver Pony to victory. Rostraver Pony scored on a single by Nick Stanger in the first inning, a double by Danny Truong in the first inning, a single by Andrew Kostelnik in the first inning, and a wild pitch in the second inning.
Rostraver Pony captured the lead in the first inning. With zero outs in the first inning Stanger drove in one run when he singled.
Rostraver Pony scored three runs in the fourth inning. Rostraver Pony scored on a double by Ryan McGrew and a single by Kostelnik.
Washington Township (Bamford) scored three runs in the fifth inning. The big inning for Washington Township (Bamford) came thanks to a single and a stolen base.
Truong earned the win for Rostraver Pony. He pitched seven innings, surrendering eight runs, six hits, and striking out 14. Donovan VonFrandenburgh took the loss for Washington Township (Bamford). He threw six innings, surrendering nine runs, nine hits, and striking out nine.
Rostraver Pony collected nine hits. Stanger, McGrew, and Kostelnik each collected multiple hits for Rostraver Pony. Kostelnik and McGrew each drove in three runs to lead Rostraver Pony. Rostraver Pony tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Stanger led the way with two.
Washington Township (Bamford) had six hits in the game. Martin Marion and Matthew Bamford each collected multiple hits for Washington Township (Bamford). Washington Township (Bamford) didn't commit a single error in the field. Zachary Jackson had the most chances in the field with ten.
Rostraver will now host Perry on Friday evening at JD. The game time is 6:00.
